Depending on whether things change or not, this is likely my last “lead-up” article on the Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival prior to my actual coverage. I hope you’ll forgive these past few posts on the subject, dear readers, I simply cannot contain my excitement for this event, truly the biggest thing to hit Buffalo since the annual Wing Festival, and the only horror-themed thing we really have that’s got a true love for the genre behind it.
The full schedule can be seen here. Each film will be followed by a Q&A session, and I’ve already got some questions in mind, so keep an eye and ear out for the nerdy guy who over-enunciates and gets way too scholarly in his approach to these films. I think the only block of programming I won’t be present for will be Block 4, on Friday afternoon, as I’m not sure I can sweet-talk my manager into giving me another half-way.
Some highlights I’m really looking forward to are UNDER THE SCARES, CABINE OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: REANIMATED, WEREWOLF FEVER, MOLD!, SLIME CITY MASSACRE (which is, if you ask me, a must-see, being one of the best pieces of cinema I’ve seen emerge from Buffalo, NY. No prior knowledge of the film SLIME CITY is required to enjoy SCM.), EL MONSTRO DEL MAR, HERSCHELL GORDON LEWIS: THE GODFATHER OF GORE…oh, but it all looks so good! It’s a buffet for the eyes, readers, I can tell you that much already.
And in case you aren’t living in the Buffalo area but plan on attending, 4-day festival passes (and single-day passes) are available through Paypal on the Buffalo Screams main page until October 18th! A four-day pass costs the same as three single-day passes, so you’re getting a free day at the festival!
The festival, once again, will be taking place at the Screening Room, 3131 Sheridan Drive, Northtown Plaza, Amherst New York (a suburb of Buffalo). I hope to see you there!
